Dear Sir or Madam:

We face a serious problem within our educational system…Educational Budget Cuts. Education budget cuts have affected public high schools and colleges in a huge way. As education budgets are reduced, so are the budgets for extra-curriculum activities (i.e. Music Departments/Programs). HAPCO Music Foundation aim to supplement budget cuts to the music departments of public high schools and colleges, while extending a helping hand to deserving youth.

Research has shown that music is vital in the development of students. There is a demonstrated, direct correlation between improved SAT scores and time spent studying the arts. In 1997, the College Board reported that students with four years of study in the arts out scored students with no arts instruction by a combined total of 101 points on the verbal and mathematics portions of the SAT. We want to make sure high school and college music departments have adequate resources to establish comprehensive music curriculum.

We are strategically positioned, we have a plan and we have relationships with college and high school music departments from all over the State of Florida who are ready to respond-but we need help. We need your help!

HAPCO has a plan that is ready and is in place. The time is NOW for this initiative! Music departments from all over the State of Florida truly desire to stay alive and strong and produce excellent students. Many are turning to us. Every music department wants to produce the best student. They just do not have the resources to do so.

We are prepared to assist them. HAPCO Inc plans to train student musicians in the fine art of musical performance through applied lessons, solo and ensemble performance experiences. Help students understand the structures and contexts of music throughout history and in the present, to enhance their appreciation and performance of diverse musical styles. Help music students develop the tools of self-discipline, creative expression, analysis, problem solving, and communication for success in their chosen life's work, in or outside of the field of music. Share the joy of musical expression with the general student, university, community, and regional populations through concerts and recitals. Serve as a resource center for music programs initially in Florida and bordering states then expanding nationally. Provide opportunities for pre-college music study for high school students via a summer band camp program. To have available a College and/or University Emergency Fund for music students in need of immediate aid. Maintain teams of musicians/teachers who, through dedication to excellence, sound pedagogy, and effective communication skills, present models that inspire students to achieve their full potential. HAPCO will pull together a team of musicians/teachers who will meet regularly with students in high school, college and university to offer advice and direction. This will provide not only moral support and creative feedback, but also actual networking contacts that lead to real work. The HAPCO Mentorship Program appeals to any established musician and/ or teacher who would be interested in becoming mentors. The goal of the mentorship program is to provide an opportunity for the mentor and his/her student to engage in a special relationship, one that is a time-honored tradition in the arts. For the mentor, it is the unique opportunity to become an essential part of a new musician’s creative growth. For the student being "mentored," it is an opportunity to learn from the experience of a seasoned musician. Prior to placement, students are involved in a Community Classroom course to prepare them for their mentorship experience. Mentors are asked to make a yearlong commitment to work with their student.

Our plan is in place. We are scheduling the events-only one barrier stands between us and accomplishing this initiative in the State of Florida…adequate funding.

You can make our plan become a reality. Please review the attached proposal and support our work. I am respectfully submitting the attached proposal for you to consider funding. If you need additional information, please feel free to call me at (407) (877)-(2262).

Please accept my sincere “thanks” for you leadership on youth music and education issues and willingness to support our innovative approach to musical youth training. I hope you share my excitement about the potential for our plan to have a significant impact on the youth, families, and communities of America. I am excited about establishing a partnership that will bear much fruit!

Thank You,

Promoting Music and Education
